A safe route
The cycle route is well-developed, alternating between greenways and roads shared with other vehicles. Rest assured, the roads used are generally very quiet.

The Gondé basin as a testing ground
Baume les Dames is a land where navigation has long occupied a predominant place thanks to Claude François Dorothée de Jouffroy d'Abbans. In fact, it was between 1776 and 1778 that he made his first attempts at steam navigation in the pretty green heart of the Doubs valley.
Why to Baume les Dames ?
Because the basin of Gondé, a wide and deep meander on the Doubs at Baume les Dames lends itself perfectly to the maneuvers and especially because the sister of Jouffroy d'Abbans, abbess at Baume les Dames remains its greatest financial supporter.

This 25km route is one of the most beautiful on the itinerary: following the Doubs River, the EV6 winds its way through the cliffs along a shaded and relatively flat path . A delight to cycle at your own pace and in complete safety . Along the way, don't miss the cliffs of Beaumerouse, the Bost and Tool Museum and the Rougnon waterfall in Laissey, and the Arcier springs in Vaire-Arcier.

Gargantua's Armchair a few (giant) steps from Baume les Dames
From the EuroVelo 6 cycle route towards Montbéliard, along the banks of the Doubs River , you can see a detachment in the cliff face that creates a distinctive shape. Indeed, you can make out two armrests and a seat that appear to belong to a giant's chair! Legend has it that this was the chair of the famous Gargantua!
