The private mansion of the lords of Neufchâtel is the oldest house in Baume les Dames. It dates from 1424 and is the oldest house in the cityIt belonged to the wealthy lords of Neufchâtel. These lords originated from Neufchâtel Urtière, a small village near Pont de Roide, in the Doubs region.

This elegant Renaissance house is in the Renaissance style. Its facade is very emblematic of this style, with its mullioned windows and brackets. The door is also beautifully crafted.

This house can only be viewed from the outside, from the pretty courtyard. To access it, we recommend using the gate located on the main street.

Until recently, it was a small museum retracing the life of the nobility and peasants of the time.

From the Tourist Office/Place de la République, walk along the main street for 150m and turn left into the passage leading to the access gate. You can continue by crossing the courtyard and taking the passage on the left through a double wooden door to reach the entrance to Place de la République.
